Spending New Years at my mother’s condo in Orange Beach has become somewhat of a tradition. We don’t do it every year, but we’re generally down here in late December or early January for a quick reprise.
It’s a good way to unwind from the holidays just passed before we head back to the realm of normal life. (That would be five-day work weeks and not having to unplug lights before going to bed.)
This visit the kids are both old enough to really enjoy the beach. Daughter Ella is still a bit young, but she’s the most adventurous of the family. Joshua loves the beach, has been talking about coming down since before Christmas.
And since it’s fairly cool, I’ll even get on the sand and enjoy a bit of the white stuff. For in the summer, I’m much more of a sit on the balcony, have a drink and enjoy life from up top kind of guy.
